Primary Purpose of Position
The primary purpose of this position is to maintain all residence halls at a high level of cleanliness and sanitation. Housekeeping staff are responsible for the proper maintenance and appearance of residence hall public areas such as lobbies, lounges, hallways, stairwells and elevators. Houskeepers also clean and sanitize bathrooms, distribute supplies, sweep, mop and wax floors.
Minimum Qualifications
Some knowledge of cleaning procedures, ability to follow instructions and to perform medium to heavy physical work; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Essential Job Functions
Duties include performing cleaning such as:
- sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting
- using environmentally preferred cleaning agents for cleaning and disinfecting
- vacuuming as well as operating floor maintenance equipment
- stripping and waxing floor as needed
- keeping work areas in a clean and orderly condition
- communicating with fellow workers, guests and students in a manner that allows work to be completed and insures harmony and teamwork in the workplace
- demonstrating knowledge of safety hazards
- Working as part of a team during summer cleaning in a variety of duties as listed above, and other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position
Ability to perform a variety of duties to include all aspects of cleaning such as
- dusting, sweeping, mopping,
- window cleaning,
- carpet cleaning,
- operation of floor maintenance equipment,
- stripping & waxing floors,
- trash removal,
- restroom sanitation,
- supply ordering, etc.
Basic computer skills such as communicating through email, ordering online supplies, submitting work order requests.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, skills and abilities to perform a variety of duties including all aspects of
- cleaning, sweeping, mopping,
- trash removal,
- restroom sanitation, etc.
Basic computer skills to perform tasks such as email and supply ordering.
Experience in operating floor maintenance equipment such as auto scrubber, high speed buffer, carpet extractor.
Maintain a valid driver’s license.

Additional cleaning of the interior and exterior of buildings using the appropriate cleaning solutions and equipment above and beyond what is required on a daily basis. Maintains an inventory of cleaning materials, supplies and equipment to ensure appropriate levels needed to perform work. Able to perform basic computer skills.
