POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY:
In accordance with Public Health regulations and the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, the Housekeeper performs general cleaning and routine laundry duties with the use of related equipment.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Using a combination of sweeping, vacuuming, extracting, spot washing, damp mopping and dusting the Houskeeper will clean the following;
· All common areas of the assigned Home Area including ceilings, walls, floors, carpets, light fixtures, furniture and interior windows.
· Resident’s rooms on assigned Home Area
· Processes, sorts and washes residents’ personal laundry
· Reports equipment and furnishing repairs and maintenance needs to the Maintenance Worker.
· Collects and disposes of garbage.
· Re-stocks supplies in washrooms.
· Performs specialized cleaning tasks in both resident rooms and common areas of the facility.
· Checks and cleans equipment and accessories.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
CRITICAL RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT
· Works and communicates with Maintenance Workers, Personal Support Workers, RPN, RN
Governance Boards and Councils

MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:
· Reports directly to Director of Operations
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
· None
WORKING CONDITIONS:
· The work environment is a long term care facility
· Extensive standing and walking. Moving equipment, lifting, reaching, squatting, kneeling and crouching. Exposure to hazards from use of power equipment. Exposure to biochemical agents and wet floors. Subject to interruptions of duties resulting from resident needs.
· Housekeeper must be able to lift carry up to 20 lbs.

EDUCATION ,EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS, CERTFICATIONS, SKILLS:
Education, Qualifications and Certifications:
· Grade 10 education or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements
· Must have 1 years’ experience
· Experience in long term care or similar environment.
· WHMIS guidelines.
Skills and Capabilities:
· Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.
· Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.
· Ability to work cooperatively with all managers and staff and create a working climate that is positive and mutually supportive.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
· Ability to organize work.
· Ability to develop and maintain rapport with elderly residents.
· Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening.
· Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities
Casual employment position
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $23.09 to $23.43 with a maximum of $23.77.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
