CLASSIFICATION: Full Time, Hourly

The Housekeeper will be responsible for the cleaning, sanitation and general upkeep of all interior and exterior buildings, surfaces, and furnishings. The position will also assist in the set-ups and take-downs of furniture and equipment staging needed for the various programs and building uses.

The Housekeeper will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community.

REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Requires at least 1 year of experience in current janitorial methods and procedures.
• Must have thorough knowledge of health and sanitation requirements of a public facility, preferably utilizing “green/sustainable” cleaning products and methods.

Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be accepted.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. This position may be required to work weekends and evenings.
2. Provide routine cleaning duties such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting of all interior and exterior building surfaces and furnishings.
3. Regular cleaning and sanitation of areas including restrooms, shower rooms, locker rooms, fitness areas and kitchen.
4. Provide furniture and equipment set-ups and take-downs in support of various programs and building uses.
5. Regular removal of trash, litter and recyclables.
6. Provide high level cleaning of public areas such as lobbies and entry areas.
7. Regular cleaning and sweeping of exterior areas including sidewalks, paved areas, and landscaping.
8. Maintain appropriate inventories of cleaning products, supplies and products such as paper towels, toilet paper, and soaps throughout the facility.
9. Maintain the appearance and functionality of the facilities and grounds components including doors, windows, flooring, walls, ceilings and furnishings.
10. Maintain records of cleaning, service and repair of building systems.
11. Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
12. Maintain the Code of Ethics policy, which has been established for the Kroc Center Hawaii.
13. Attend staff meetings and other administrative meetings.
14. Maintain regular and punctual work attendance.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

MENTAL DEMANDS:
This position must prioritize and organize work assignments, take projects from beginning through completion, perform job functions with attention to detail, speed and accuracy. The work will be in a fast-paced environment and must maintain poise under pressure. The position must maintain a self-motivated, energetic, enthusiastic, motivational, self-directed schedule and be able to respond to crisis situations in a calm and effective manner, remaining calm when resolving problems using good judgment. This position must possess the self-discipline necessary to perform repetitive tasks without lowering quality of work, exercise good judgment, be comfortable taking initiative with projects and have a genuine interest and commitment to providing quality services. This position must be able to work with limited supervision, and work in a team setting with other professionals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The position requires sitting; climbing and/or balancing; stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; standing; walking; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; use of vision; pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying 25 pounds and occasionally more than 25 pounds with assistance. This employee may also be required to work weekends and evenings.

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:
The position requires talking to co-workers, clients, vendors; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, vendor; talking on the telephone; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, and vendors; requires training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other worksites; requires communication via the latest technologies.

The position requires the ability to interact with co-workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in conformity with The Salvation Army Mission Statement. The position also requires the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

EQUIPMENT NEEDS:
Equipment used includes: electric powered vacuum cleaner, cleaning cart, step ladder, cleaning chemicals, shampoo/buffing/waxing machines.

OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Most work will be indoors at the new Kroc Center Hawaii facility. Attendance at trainings and conferences in Hawaii may be required.
