About Our Family

We’re a busy, entrepreneurial family of six living in a vibrant Kansas City neighborhood where nearly everything we need is close to home. Our life is full and intentional, with work, family, school, and community all woven together. Both parents own their own businesses, so our days are dynamic, and no two weeks look exactly the same.

We have four children attending three different schools, a sweet older dog, and a household that moves at a steady pace. We already have strong systems in place, including a regular housekeeper, lawn care, and established routines, but we’ve reached a point where we need one more steady, capable person to help make the day-to-day feel smoother and more manageable.

This role is designed to be flexible and autonomous. While some responsibilities require hands-on support in our home, the role is intentionally designed to allow flexibility in where work is completed based on the day’s priorities. We value clear boundaries and thoughtful use of time, and we are looking for someone who can exercise good judgment about where each task is best completed. Depending on the day’s priorities, work may take place in our home, one of our business offices, another suitable workspace, or remotely when handling administrative responsibilities.

More than anything, we’re looking for someone who shows up with heart and genuinely cares about the family they support. This is not a formal estate role, and there is no hierarchy in our home. Every task has value, whether it’s helping with a school pickup, putting away groceries, resetting a room, preparing food, managing an administrative project, or noticing something small that would make the day easier.

The right person will be flexible, thoughtful, dependable, and willing to help wherever needed. No job is too large or too small. We hope to find someone who notices the details, takes pride in creating ease and calm, and is comfortable working both independently and alongside the family.

We’re thoughtful and intentional about the way we live, from the food we eat and the feeling of our home to the values we’re teaching our children. Kindness, accountability, respect, and consideration for others are especially important to us, and we’re looking for a house manager who will help reinforce those values through the way they communicate, support the family, and approach the day-to-day.

Who You Are / What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who leads with kindness, takes genuine pride in supporting a family, and brings a calm, capable presence to the day-to-day. The ideal person is warm, dependable, detail-oriented, and equally comfortable preparing school lunches, coordinating a vendor visit, managing errands, or resetting a room.

This role is best suited for someone with an operator mentality—someone who sees the bigger picture, takes responsibility for outcomes, and approaches the household with the same level of thoughtfulness and care they would bring to their own home. Rather than waiting for a list of instructions, this person naturally notices what needs attention, anticipates what may be coming next, and takes thoughtful action.

The primary responsibility is helping the family, household, and businesses run smoothly. Priorities will naturally evolve from week to week, so success is less about completing the same checklist and more about using sound judgment to determine where support is most valuable. We appreciate someone who enjoys creating helpful systems, improving processes, and quietly solving problems before they become disruptions.

Strong communication, flexibility, and discretion are also essential. Because this role provides access to the family’s children, home, schedules, finances, and businesses, trust is the foundation of the position. The qualities below are especially important to the family and will help the right person thrive in this role.

Key Qualities

  • Proactive: Naturally notices what needs attention and takes action without waiting to be asked
  • Forward-thinking: Anticipates upcoming needs, plans ahead, and helps prevent details from being missed
  • Ownership-minded: Takes responsibility for the overall outcome and follows tasks through to completion
  • Systems-oriented: Enjoys building routines, improving processes, and creating greater ease and efficiency
  • Independent: Makes thoughtful decisions confidently while keeping the family appropriately informed
  • Resourceful: Quietly solves problems, adapts as priorities shift, and finds practical ways to move things forward
  • Service-minded: Genuinely enjoys making life easier for others and brings care to responsibilities of every size
  • Trustworthy: Handles personal, household, and business information with complete discretion and professionalism

Success in This Role Looks Like

  • The household runs smoothly without constant direction
  • Family members know what to expect because systems are maintained
  • Problems are anticipated and solved before they become stressful

We value judgment over perfection, initiative over instruction, and a sincere desire to become a trusted part of the family’s support system.

Key Responsibilities

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Maintain existing organizational systems throughout the home; suggest improvements where helpful

  • Coordinate donation drop-offs for outgrown items
  • Holiday, birthday, and guest prep and coordination
  • Mudroom, entryway, and garage organization

Family Support

  • School pick-ups and drop-offs as needed, including after-school sports, camps, and activities
  • Light supervision and backup childcare support on occasion

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

  • Manage the family calendar: scheduling, proactive reminders, and coordination across both work and household schedules
  • Light travel planning and logistics support
  • Assist with occasional event coordination (staff gatherings, hosting)
  • Support with bi-weekly payroll for family business employees
  • Provide hands-on support with business-related projects, including organization, preparation, and photography.

Inventory & Errands

  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies; maintain a running master staples list

  • Errands may span both home and family business offices

Meal Support

  • Prep healthy, consistent lunches for adults Monday through Friday
  • Prep daily school lunches for the kids
  • Grocery shopping in line with family dietary preferences (organic, low sugar, low gluten, low dairy)
  • Basic cooking experience required; gourmet skills are not expected
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen throughout the day

Laundry & Linens

  • Wash, dry, fold and organize family laundry as needed
  • When children are home, defer to and reinforce their laundry responsibilities rather than completing tasks for them
  • Communicate status updates on laundry and other tasks throughout the day
  • Maintain a tidy, well-stocked laundry area
  • Linen rotation managed by the existing housekeeper: coordinate with housekeeper as needed

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Source and manage specialist deep-clean crews (bi-annually)
  • Complete a deeper quarterly cleaning and organizational refresh of the garage, mudroom, and entry spaces
  • Complete quarterly seasonal organization projects for gear, clothing, and shared household spaces

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Oversee existing vendors including the housekeeper, landscaper, and handyman
  • Create and manage task lists for the handyman; conduct seasonal property walkthroughs alongside contractors
  • Research and coordinate repair quotes as needed
  • Manage tidiness of outdoor spaces; ensure kids return items inside or to the garage

Vehicle Upkeep

  • Schedule and coordinate routine maintenance for family vehicles
  • Keep vehicles fueled, cleaned, and organized; utilize existing car wash subscription
  • Track registration and insurance for all family vehicles

Pet Care

  • Coordinate with Rover for boarding when the family travels
  • Schedule grooming and veterinary appointments for the family dog
  • Maintain pet supply inventory and administer medications as needed
