Requirements
We are a busy, close-knit household based in Winston-Salem, NC. At the center of our home is one bright, inquisitive kid who fills the space with energy, creativity, and personality. Our household is led by a parent who manages a full and meaningful life: working part time, raising a child, and caring for another family member. With full hearts and a full schedule, some help is essential. We have some support from local family, babysitters, and a weekly cleaner, but what we need is a steady, proactive partner who can step in and keep things moving.
Ours is a household where relationships matter deeply, and we are looking for someone who will feel like a natural extension of our family team. Most importantly, this means creating a positive, dependable dynamic with not only adults you interact with, but a “tween.” It is important that you meet them with patience, warmth, and the kind of calm confidence that makes transitions feel easy.
You are patient, warm, and wise — someone who brings a unique combination of energy and groundedness. You are proactive, self-directed, and are always looking for new ways to step in and help. You feel comfortable making decisions independently, when necessary. You are a natural multitasker, but never sacrifice quality — you can pivot gracefully between tasks, manage multiple priorities at once, and you bring a smile to it all.
You are great with kids and genuinely enjoy their company. The right candidate will be happy to engage in kid-related tasks, pick ups/drop offs, and some direct childcare, including occasional overnights. You know how to build trust with a young person, engage with their interests, and offer gentle redirection when transitions get tricky. You lead with kindness and always remain composed, even when they are testing boundaries. You are flexible, a positive role model, and unfazed by the occasional unpredictability that comes with a full household.
The things that weigh on us most are the everyday stuff that piles up fast. We could really use support so the home runs smoothly in the background, even on the busiest weeks. Meal prep, daily tidying, and taking on some responsibility with childcare is essential — the right person will be excited about these tasks. We occasionally dog sit, so being comfortable around dogs is important, too! If this sounds like you, we’d love to connect.
To apply, please submit a short intro letter telling us a little about yourself and why this role is a great fit, an updated resume, and 3 professional references with contact information. Please note that this role requires a background check.
