Job Title: House Manager / Family Assistant

Location: San Francisco, CA 94114

Employment Type: Part-time, 20 hours per week

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Flexible day and hour configurations are considered based on candidate availability. Tuesdays may have limited availability. One evening per week childcare support for date night (your choice of day). Occasional evening coverage (e.g., bath and dinner time support) may be needed on a case-by-case basis.

Compensation: $43-$48 per hour

Requirements

• Maintain a smoke-free and fragrance-free environment.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Warm and friendly with kids; comfortable around cats (we have one).
• Reliable transportation preferred for errands; mileage reimbursement provided.
• Ability to navigate multiple flights of stairs throughout the day.
• Candidates are required to be up to date on recommended vaccinations in line with American Academy of Pediatrics and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, subject to applicable legal accommodations.
• CPR and first aid certification preferred.

Both parents work from home with flexible schedules, creating an active household where there is always something happening throughout the day. We have two young children, ages 5 and 2, who bring lots of energy and curiosity to our home, along with a beloved family cat.

After spending time living in another city, we are excited to be back in our San Francisco home and are looking for someone who can become a trusted part of our household rhythm. Key Responsibilities

Household Organization & Maintenance

• Create and maintain household organization systems throughout the home.
• Perform daily resets and prepare the home for cleaners.
• Handle light tidying including dishes, surfaces, and vacuuming high-traffic areas.
• Handle minor maintenance tasks such as changing batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors.
• Support event, holiday, and guest prep.
• Assist with unpacking after travel.
• Manage seasonal clothing, decor, and bedding swaps.

Laundry & Linens

• Wash, fold, organize, and put away laundry, with attention to specific stain management preferences.
• Iron, steam, and provide special garment care as needed.
• Rotate linens every few weeks.
• Maintain tidy and well-stocked laundry areas.

Inventory & Errands

• Restock pantry, fridge, household and pet supplies.
• Manage running household supply lists.
• Handle returns, dry cleaning, donation drop-offs, and gift shopping.
• Bring in, sort, and discard junk mail; break down boxes.

Family Support

• Provide light supervision and backup childcare as needed.
• Assist with occasional school pickups and drop-offs using the family vehicle.
• Prepare backpacks, and for the children.
• Prepare school lunches and healthy after-school snack plates.
• Provide occasional evening coverage (bath time, dinner support) when a parent is traveling or unavailable.
• Support with feeding the cat, as needed.

Meal Support

• Prepare batch and fresh dinners approximately three times per week, with meals ready to eat (not just prepped).
• Follow dietary preferences, including grain-free options for one parent and balanced, healthy meals for the family.
• Draw from a mix of family recipes and personal creativity.
• Prepare healthy snacks for the children.
• Handle grocery shopping, and kitchen cleanup and maintenance.

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Perform occasional deep cleans of the refrigerator, oven, microwave, humidifiers, and air purifiers.
• Refresh garage, entryway, and basement areas.
• Take on organizational projects for toys and gear.

Vehicle Upkeep

• Schedule routine vehicle maintenance.
• Handle fueling, cleaning, and organizing of the family vehicle.

Vendor & Property Oversight

• Interface with cleaners, contractors, and other household vendors as needed.
• Research vendor quotes and coordinate servicing and repairs.
• Coordinate seasonal property maintenance as needed.

Family & Administrative Support

• Assist with calendar management as needed.
• Coordinate events and appointments.
