The ECU College of Education’s Irene Howell Assistive Technology [IHAT] Center is currently seeking a student staff learning assistant to work in the Center. The Center’s focus is teaching about working effectively with individuals with disabilities in schools and other work environments.

Student staff will:

1. Support online professional development (PD) via Canvas in the areas of Universal Design for Learning, Accessibility, and Assistive Technology, including grading module assessments, offering content feedback, and technical assistance related to the Center’s assistive technology.
2. Manage data and update databases.
3. Support Center events
4. Staff Open Lab hours to support students on PD modules, assist with email and Canvas communications, support inventory and MakerSpace needs, maintaining the Center’s space, and other tasks as assigned.
5. Staff members must also be available to work a minimum of 6 hours a week on a consistent schedule around their class schedule.

GPA Requirement Minimum of 2.5 Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)

Open to all majors, specifically individuals with an interest in learning to work effectively with students/individuals with disabilities. Preference may be given to Education, particularly Special Education and Speech and Hearing Sciences.

No experience required; this position could be an excellent resume builder as you will receive training about working effectively with individuals and disabilities.

Demonstrated good communication and critical thinking skills. Must be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
