Hourly Quality Inspector

CVG Michigan City

Position Summary

The Hourly Quality Inspector is responsible for verifying product quality throughout production and performing final inspections prior to shipment to ensure customer requirements are met. The Hourly Quality Technician supports daily plant quality activities by performing product inspections, containment and sorting activities, final shipment verification, and quality testing. This position works directly with Production, Engineering, Materials, and Quality to identify and contain nonconforming product, support customer and internal quality concerns, and ensure products meet established specifications and customer requirements. The Quality Technician will provide hands-on support for current quality issues and production needs, including 100% inspections, controlled shipping activities, product sorts, first-piece and final inspections, measurement activities, and documentation of inspection results.

Key Responsibilities

· Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections of components and finished goods.

· Conduct final inspections before shipment, verifying product, labeling, packaging, quantity, and documentation requirements.

· Approve or reject material based on established quality standards and work instructions.

· Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.

· Conduct root cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone, and other problem-solving methods.

· Create, post, and communicate Quality Alerts.

· Support containment, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.

· Use Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to track quality metrics and analyze trends.

· Work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and supply chain teams.

· Support audits and maintain inspection equipment.

Required Qualifications

· High school diploma or GED.

· Manufacturing or quality inspection experience preferred.

· Ability to read engineering drawings and work instructions.

· Ability to use calipers, gauges, and inspection tools.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic computer applications.

· Strong communication and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 35 pounds in a manufacturing environment.

Hours: Monday - Friday-5am-3:30pm (OT as needed on weekends and during the week)

Range of Rate of Pay based on experience-$19.00-$23.00
