JOB TITLE:

Research Assistant in Ecology

JOB PURPOSE:

Gain hands-on experience in ecological monitoring, plant growth research, experimental design, and data management while supporting an ongoing study in ecological restoration and plant demography. This position offers individualized training and occasional fieldwork across Wyoming, with an anticipated schedule of up to 20 hours per week that includes flexibility for time off. Individuals pursuing degrees or interests in botany, plant science, ecology, agriculture, environmental science, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary responsibilities include growing and maintaining research plants in the greenhouse as well as setting up and monitoring outdoor field plots in Laramie. Duties range from seedling production and soil prep to collecting growth data, maintaining digital spreadsheets, and participating in intermittent fieldwork across Wyoming. Training will be provided, including safety protocols and proper equipment use.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current UW student, or an individual who has already earned a bachelor's degree

Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the Driving for University Business SAP
