JOB SUMMARY:
The development and solicitation of business from all local markets, to include Weddings, Social Events, Proms & Local corporate meetings, to ensure the necessary bookings needed for a successful and profitable operation for the hotel.
The incumbent is authorized to take reasonable action necessary to carry out assigned duties and responsibilities, provided such action is consistent with position guidelines as outlined below or through the exercise of sound, reasonable judgment, and initiative in the performance of job responsibilities.

POSITION GUIDELINES:
Position guidelines include, but are not limited to, established company and department policies and procedures and all supervisory directives. The incumbent is expected to exercise sound, reasonable judgment and initiative, and give high priority to accuracy and details in the performance of job responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work closely with the Sr. Catering Sales Manager, Director of Catering and the F&B Director, to ensure the hotel is positioned to sell at the best possible rates.
- Compiles and directs the preparation of reports pertaining to the operation of the Catering Sales Department to include, but not limited to, the annual and monthly forecast, marketing budget, booking report, and sales meeting minutes
- Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends, and relate information for development of new marketing strategies
- Make reasonable recommendations to improve potential from various markets
- Develop and conduct persuasive verbal sales presentations to prospective clients
- Meet with and entertain clients
- Organize and attend scheduled Sales Department meetings, or any other related meetings
- Conduct property site inspections with potential customers
- Input and retrieve information from computer systems for file maintenance, correspondence, and preparation for forecasts and budget
- Promptly answer the telephone using positive and clear English
- Check emails daily to follow up on websites sending us leads.
- Any other duties as assigned; duties are subject to change as management deems necessary to best serve the needs of Moody Gardens
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma required
- College degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years Hotel Catering sales experience required
- Prior experience in a similar hotel or hospitality outlet preferred
- Additional language skills preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Must be reliable and responsible
- Knowledge of the travel industry, current market trends, and economic factors
- Ability to speak with clients about their payment to the Hotel to make sure they stay current with payments.
- Extensive skills in the development and delivery of sales presentations
- Ability to access understand, and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information, and resolve conflicts
- Ability to stand and move throughout the hotel property while continuously performing essential job functions
- Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Any other reasonable request is given by Assistant General Manager.
