Essential Functions
- Must possess excellent hospitality skills and a strong desire to foster an attitude of “exceeding guest’s expectations”.
- Must maintain a professional appearance wearing a clean, pressed uniform, and name tag.
- Must be honest, reliable, and prompt in assisting guests through daily contact.
- Responds to employee and guest requests in a courteous and timely manner.
- Assist Housekeeping staff with duties to include but not limited to;

- - Stripping beds

- - Trash removal

- - Helps to insure all items in guest rooms are in working order

- Assist Maintenance staff with light maintenance duties to include but not limited to;

- - Painting and touch ups

- - Drywall and wallpaper repairs

- - Preventative maintenance

- - Door Lock repairs and programing

- - Window screen repairs

- - Replacing light bulbs

- Assist Guest Services staff with delivering special guest requests such as;

- - Rollways

- - Linens, blankets, pillows

- - Mini refrigerators

- At times, will be asked to assist Guest Services Front Desk staff with;

- - Answering phone

- - Processing walk in guest reservations

- - Assisting with group check in’s

- - Any guest related need or request

- - Assisting guests with luggage.

- Regularly checks all floors, elevators, landings, porches, other common areas for trash or debris.
- Checks vending areas for trash, debris, or spillage, and cleans appropriately to maintain a clean, neat, and safe space for guests.
- Assure appropriate appearance of all public areas for guest comfort by;

- - Vacuuming and cleaning all floors and carpets in public areas

- - Dusts, polishes all furniture

- - Keep windows and doors clean

- - Disinfects and deodorizes bathroom fixtures

- - Restocks and replenishes bathroom supplies, such as; paper products and soap

- At times, works at different heights to clean walls and windows.
- Responds immediately to any major spills or other cleaning crisis.
- Place safer hazard signs in the building including “wet floor” signs to ensure the safety of guests and staff.
- Turn in all lost and found items to the front desk staff.
- Ability to move about campus to provide service in all assigned areas, utilizing a variety of transportation vehicles. I.e. golf cart, work van, and oversized work van.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, holidays and overtime when necessary with prior supervisor approval.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and report any unsafe activities or conditions immediately to supervisor or Human Resources.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required.

QualificationsKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
- A combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma and a minimum of 1 year relevant experience.
- Hospitality experience strongly desired.
- Must have demonstrated good communication skills, guest relation skills, and a commitment to providing responsive and conscientious customer service.
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to changing needs, multiple task demands, and work structures.
- Ability to manage time effectively to ensure all tasks are completed timely and efficiently.
- Ability to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
- Ability to effectively present job related information upon request to customers, and other employees.
- Proven organizational skills and interpersonal skills are required.
- Ability to solve practical problems and handle a variety of guest, and employee questions.
- Ability to support the Mission and Vision of Lake Junaluska is essential.
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.
Working Conditions
- Moderate to heavy physical activity performing strenuous and non-strenuous Porter type work.
- Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor hotel setting with adequate ventilation with moderate noise.
- Physical demands: able to lift up to 100 pounds, manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items.
- Manual dexterity to perceive attributes of objects and materials.
- Climb, balance, stoop, kneel; frequently moves about, able to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Must be able to work with a variety of chemicals, to include but not limited to; ammonia, disinfectants, floor finishers, waxes, removers and bleach based products without risk of irritation or allergic reaction.
- Vision: must be able to see close, have good vision to perform daily duties
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include, holidays, and overtime when required and with supervisor approval.
