OUR EXPECTATIONS FROM THE ROLE:

As a Hostess at The Ritz-Carlton, you will be the first and last impression of our guests’ dining experience. You are responsible for warmly welcoming guests, managing reservations, and ensuring a seamless flow of service within the restaurant while delivering exceptional luxury hospitality in line with Marriott International’s service excellence standards.

No matter what position you are in, there are a few things that are critical to success – creating a safe workplace, following company policies and procedures, upholding quality standards, and ensuring your uniform, personal appearance, and communications are professional. Guest Service Experts will be on their feet and moving around (stand, sit, or walk for an extended time; moving over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces), managing the menu (read and visually verify information), and taking a hands-on approach to work (move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance and 50 pounds with assistance; reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping). Doing all these things well (and other reasonable job duties as requested) is critical for Guest Service Experts – to get it right for our guests and our business each and every time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Greet guests warmly and professionally upon arrival, using guests’ names whenever possible
  2. Manage restaurant reservations and seating arrangements efficiently
  3. Escort guests to their tables and present menus
  4. Maintain accurate waitlists during peak periods and communicate waiting times clearly
  5. Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to ensure smooth table turnover and service flow
  6. Handle guest inquiries, requests, and special arrangements (VIPs, celebrations, dietary needs)
  7. Monitor dining area cleanliness, ambiance, and readiness at all times
  8. Answer phone calls, manage bookings, and respond to guest inquiries promptly
  9. Ensure adherence to Marriott and Ritz-Carlton service standards and brand values
  10. Address guest concerns professionally and escalate when necessary
  11. Support the F&B team to deliver a memorable and personalized dining experience

Skills & Competencies

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Professional appearance and excellent grooming standards

Customer-focused with a positive and welcoming attitude

Ability to handle high-pressure situations with grace and composure

Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Multitasking ability in a fast-paced environment

Basic knowledge of restaurant operations and reservation systems

Fluency in English (additional languages are an advantage)

Qualifications & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous experience in a luxury hotel or fine dining restaurant preferred

Familiarity with Marriott systems or reservation platforms is an advantage
