NBC4, Los Angeles is seeking an engaging, dynamic, and digitally native Host / Content Creator for Reel Time, a new live entertainment news program focused on delivering timely, relevant content across digital, social, streaming, and broadcast platforms.

The Host will serve first and foremost as a social-first content creator and personality, responsible for developing, producing, and delivering daily entertainment content designed to drive engagement across platforms. This role will also extend that voice to the on-air experience, bringing digital storytelling, personality, and immediacy into a live Monday-Friday format.

Success in this role requires a strong on-camera presence, sharp editorial instincts, and a deep understanding of how to create content that resonates in a fast-paced, audience-driven, multi-platform environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and produce daily entertainment content optimized for social and digital platforms, with a focus on speed, relevance, and engagement.
  • Translate trending topics, audience behaviors, and entertainment news into compelling, platform-native content (short-form video, live hits, explainers, and personality-driven segments).
  • Extend digital content to on-air by hosting and presenting segments for local and broader audiences, maintaining an authentic and conversational tone.
  • Deliver content across multiple platforms, including social, streaming, and broadcast, with the ability to adapt format, pacing, and voice for each platform.
  • Identify trending stories, viral moments, and cultural conversations, and quickly turn them into publishable content.
  • Report entertainment stories both live and in pre-produced formats, in-studio and in the field.
  • Write and contribute to scripts, segments, and captions across platforms, ensuring clarity, tone, and engagement.
  • Actively engage with audiences on social platforms, using voice, personality, and interaction to build connection and community.
  • Conduct interviews (in-studio, in-field, and virtual) with talent, experts, and newsmakers, optimized for both social clipping and on-air use.
  • Collaborate closely with producers, contributors, co-hosts, and digital teams to develop multi-platform content strategies and daily coverage plans.
  • Integrate sponsored content, promotions, and brand partnerships seamlessly into content across platforms.
  • Create, publish, and amplify original content on social media, including self-shot, behind-the-scenes, and real-time updates.
  • Collaborate with creative and digital teams to optimize content for reach, retention, and shareability.
  • Support promotional activities, including station events, community appearances, and special programming.
  • Serve as a public-facing representative of the station, maintaining a strong and consistent brand voice across platforms.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of on-air experience in television, digital, or multi-platform environments.
  • Experience covering entertainment news, pop culture, or lifestyle content.
  • Proven ability to ad-lib, improvise, and perform effectively under tight deadlines and in live or near-live environments.
  • Experience presenting across multiple platforms, including television, digital, and social media.
  • Strong editorial judgment with the ability to identify and communicate compelling entertainment stories.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be willing to work in Universal City, CA.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be able to provide a demo reel or portfolio of work examples.
  • Successful candidate will be required to join the SAG AFTRA union if not already a member and remain a member in good standing of that union

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong interest in entertainment news, current events, and pop culture.
  • Comfortable working with talent, artists, and high-profile individuals.
  • Strong on-air presence with the ability to connect authentically with a broad audience.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in social media platforms and digital audience engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
