Pay Details:
The starting hourly rate for this position is $20.50 per hour.
The Restaurant Host is primarily responsible for the greeting guests, taking reservations (in person and over the phone), and escorting guests to their seats. The restaurant host also answers phone calls, records and processes take-out orders over the phone, and answers any customer inquiries regarding the restaurant and the menu. This is a part-time position.
Responsibilities
Greet guests and patrons upon arrival at the restaurant with professionalism, customer service, and a hospitable attitude
Answer restaurant phone calls timely; assist with transferring phone calls, recording reservations, and processing take-out orders as requested by guests
Review reservation list and ensure seating arrangement is in accordance to guests’ preference and/or restaurant guidelines; escort guest(s) to designated dining space
Responsible for organizing and maintaining host stand and entrance of the restaurant; ensure all menus are clean, organized, and updated with most updated menu
Maintain knowledge of restaurant happenings, including menu updates, operational guidelines, service hours, special offerings, etc.
Possess knowledge of complete menu offerings, including production specifications, ingredients, cooking times, presentation/packaging, etc.
Support all team members to ensure guests receive high quality service; provide notes and insights if guests have special requests, assist team by clearing/cleaning/pre-setting tables for next party, ensure hospitable experience for all guests
Protect establishment and patrons by adhering to sanitation, safety and alcohol control policies
Understand and assist with execution of responsible alcohol service
Follow, adhere, and practice the Safety and Sanitation standards set forth by the Food & Beverage Department including but not limited to:
Social distancing
Use of face mask/covering when in common areas, presence of guests, and where Social Distancing is not possible
Use of gloves when handling guest food or beverage
Cleaning and sanitizing high contact surfaces that are frequently used by guests and fellow employees
Frequent handwashing, regardless of use of gloves
Other tasks as assigned by supervisors and/or managers
Skills
Minimum 18 years of age
1-year experience working as a host in an upscale restaurant preferred
Strong attention to detail; strong customer service/hospitality skills
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy
Strong communication skills
Ability to lift, push, and pull 20lbs
Works well with others; establishing and maintaining effective relationships with fellow workers and supervisors
Flexible schedule: ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as required
Must be able to work in an environment with fluctuating temperatures
