The purpose of the role is to ensure that each NZMA student is provided with an optimal learning experience through providing a place where students can eat, relax, engage but also put their skills into practice. A safe, supportive, and encouraging environment where they can make mistakes to learn from, build the confidence to overcome their nerves, and get experience dealing with real customers.
The role of the Hospitality Operations Coordinator is an exciting one combining the managing of daily operations of the training kitchens and student Cafe, the co-ordination of events and functions, and the delivery and assessment of industry relevant training focused on developing and building student capability.
There are six key performance areas for the Hospitality Operations Coordinator. These are:
You’re a hands-on hospitality professional with strong cooking and kitchen operations experience, who enjoys working in an environment where food, learning, and people come together. You bring practical kitchen knowledge, a calm and organised approach, and a genuine interest in supporting students as they build confidence and real-world hospitality skills. You’re comfortable balancing food preparation with operational responsibilities, while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and service.
