POSITION TITLE: Hospital Veterinarian II

POSITION LOCATION: Vetco Total Care - 7128 Broadway, Lemon Grove, CA 91945

SALARY: $97,947-$186,100/yr.

HOURS: Full Time/40 hours

JOB DUTIES: Provide excellent patient care by performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care according to patient signalment, lifestyle, and environment. Utilize problem-based approach that includes developing complete problem list for every patient examined, complete list of differential diagnoses for each problem identified, complete diagnostic plan, and appropriate treatments based on interpretation of diagnostic test results leading to confirmed or suspected diagnoses. Document all patient observations, findings of exams and diagnostics, treatments and medications, client interactions, and tentative and confirmed diagnoses in medical record in concise and detailed fashion, according to practice convention. Perform routine and complex surgical procedures including (but not limited to) spays/neuters, abdominal exploratory, and mass removals. Perform routine and complex dental procedures including full dental examination, evaluation of dental radiographs, as well as simple and complex extractions and oral surgical procedures. Develop treatment plans for patients undergoing day hospitalization based on complete problem-based assessment. Communicate effectively with referral hospitals to ensure continuity of patient care. Disseminate knowledge throughout staff to improve level of care and communication provided hospital partners, to both patient and client.

Work schedule is comprised of four (4) 10-hour days/week, including two (2) Saturdays/month

REQUIREMENTS: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA-accredited veterinary school or foreign equivalent and 3 years of experience as a Veterinarian.

Licensure requirements:
1) Active California Veterinarian License without contingencies or ability to obtain by start date;
2) Current DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) license; and
3) USDA Category I accreditation.

Applicants must have demonstrated experience with:
1) performing physical examinations, diagnosing and treating diseases, and providing preventive care according to patient signalment, lifestyle, and environment;
2) communicating treatment plans and exam findings to clients in a clear and compassionate manner;
3) performing anesthesia and routine surgeries including but not limited to canine and feline spays, neuters, mass removals and dentals; and
4) medical record documentation.

SALARY: The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

$97,947 – $186,100/year. Exact rate of pay will be based on position, location, and experience level.
