Mildmay Oaks has an opportunity for a Security Lead/Hospital Safety Officer to join our team. This is a part-time role working 30 hours per week. The salary for these hours is £2,1040.

Priory Hospital Mildmay Oaks, Hook, Hampshire is a low secure and level 2 rehabilitation service supporting both male and female patients, including specialist learning disability and autism spectrum services. It also provides adult and CAMHS services, as well as bespoke therapeutic placements. It is accessible by public transport, with Winchfield railway station approximately 1–2 miles from the service and limited local bus links. Due to the semi-rural location of the service, access to a vehicle or the ability to drive is recommended.

What you'll be doing

We’re looking for a confident and experienced Security Lead to help maintain a safe, secure and supportive environment for patients, colleagues and visitors. Working closely with clinical and operational teams, you’ll oversee day-to-day security arrangements, support incident management and promote a strong culture of safety across the hospital.

In this role, you will:
  • Oversee day-to-day security operations, including access control, CCTV, patrols, keys and alarm response.
  • Support colleagues in managing incidents, emergencies and high-risk situations, including de-escalation and patient movements.
  • Conduct security checks, risk assessments and audits, ensuring compliance with hospital policies and relevant standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting of security incidents, risks and near-misses.
  • Work closely with clinical, Health & Safety and operational teams to develop and improve local security procedures and promote a culture of safety.

What you'll bring to the role

Essential for the role
You’ll have a minimum of two years’ clinical experience within secure mental health services, with knowledge of corporate and local policies and procedures and the three spheres of security within secure healthcare. You’ll have proven security leadership experience, strong safeguarding and risk management skills, excellent communication and decision-making abilities, and the ability to remain calm and authoritative under pressure. You’ll also be confident producing reports, maintaining confidential records and working within relevant legislation and professional standards.

The following experience would be beneficial
Experience within a mental health or secure hospital setting is desirable, along with training in conflict resolution or RRI (Reducing Restrictive Interventions) and familiarity with NHS or public sector governance frameworks.
