Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As a Hospital Laboratory Technician 1, you will provide support to the Anatomic Pathology Referral Lab Services unit. Primary duties include:

•Assist with processing of referral lab tissue send outs.

•Pull pathology slides and route to pathologists for block selection.

•Assist with the processing referral lab result reports, follow-up on pending result reports, and scan outside results into LIS and EMR.

•Track, package and ship pathology tissue samples to referral labs.

•Assist with referral lab invoice processing and submission of unit charges.

•Act as liaison between reference lab, ordering clinician and pathology department.

Salary Range: $27.71/hour - $36.60/hour


Job Qualifications

•High school diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED or HiSET) •Working knowledge of anatomic pathology procedures, practices and workflows •Understanding of referral lab send out workflows, including specimen requirements and test methodologies •General knowledge of specimen transport regulations and guidelines such as proper tissue packaging, handling dry ice, and required labeling and documentation. •Ability to constantly position self (ascend/descend, extend/contract, rotate/pivot) to access slide files, stock specimen kits. •Ability to push, pull and/or lift up to 35 lbs. •Experience working in EPIC or an equivalent laboratory information system - preferred
