Position Summary

The Hospice Aide provides personal care and supportive services to hospice patients in accordance with the patient's plan of care. This role plays a vital part in ensuring comfort, dignity, and quality of life for patients while supporting families and caregivers.

What You'll Do

• Provide personal care services promptly and compassionately based on patient assignments and individual needs
• Ensure patient safety and properly utilize equipment such as oxygen, side rails, foot stools, and other assistive devices
• Assist with bathing, oral hygiene, shampoos, back rubs, and changing bed linens as assigned
• Assist patients with dressing and undressing
• Plan and prepare nutritious meals, including grocery shopping when assigned
• Assist patients with feeding as needed
• Take and record temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure as ordered and within demonstrated competency
• Observe and provide appropriate skin care to help prevent breakdown and maintain patient comfort
• Report patient condition, concerns, and significant changes to the Case Manager
• Maintain awareness of caregiver dynamics and communicate relevant concerns to the care team
• Provide respite support for family members and caregivers when appropriate

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 16 years
• Current State Tested Nurse Aide (STNA) or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) certification as required by the state
• Current CPR certification
• Listed on the state nurse aide registry with a clear record and eligible to provide patient care
• Understanding of hospice philosophy and comfort with providing compassionate end-of-life care
• Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the interdisciplinary team
