Job Summary and Responsibilities

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced per diem Hospice Physician to join our dedicated team at Franciscan Hospice. As a Hospice Physician, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive palliative care to patients facing terminal illnesses. This opening is for the Tacoma Metro Area and is remote and office-based with opportunities for home/facility visits and inpatient unit work. Franciscan Hospice is the sole hospice agency in the South Sound with an inpatient hospice unit, offering the highest level of care to the patients in our community and exceptional support to our clinicians who care for them.

To be successful in this role, you will be a skilled, BC/BE, and compassionate Hospice and Pallitiative Medicine Physician, possessing expertise in diagnosing and managing complex diseases, alongside strong communication abilities. You will also demonstrate a deep commitment to patient-centered care and the capacity to thrive within a collegiate and supportive environment.

To be successful in this role, you will be a skilled in the following:

  • Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations and assessments for hospice patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Manage pain and symptom control, ensuring patients' comfort and quality of life.
  • Provide medical guidance and support to patients and their families.
  • Serve as the medical expert on the hospice interdisciplinary team.
  • Participate in ongoing medical education and quality improvement initiatives.
  • $127.55/hourly rate, variable shifts depending on coverage needs.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Hospice or Pallitive Medicine
  • Active, unrestricted license in the state of Washington
  • Ability to obtain a DEA with full prescriptive authority needed for the specific practice
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for providing compassionate end-of-life care

Preferred

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Hospice or Palliative care, or a related field working with ternimally ill patients
