This position is responsible for performing massage therapy techniques for relaxation, pain management, or therapeutic purposes as discussed/recommended by the interdisciplinary care team. Techniques employed may include: Compassionate Touch®, Everflowing* and other massage techniques in the context of hospice care. Provide muscular therapy to promote relaxation, release of muscular tension, and an increase in body awareness. Also performs energy work such as Reiki, Healing Touch, and movement awareness/education.
Job Functions
Assess patients to determine effective methodologies.
Reviews client's medical history, symptoms, and other relevant information before treatment.
Applies appropriate technique to the patient.
Consults with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Maintains records of treatments.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Graduate from an accredited Massage Therapy program or equivalent
Meets state licensing laws and regulations
Board Certification in therapeutic massage and body work
Membership in ABMP or AMTA
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Able to work independently and organize tasks
Exhibit flexibility, self-control, and maturity in work and behavior
Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above and to coordinate care within interdisciplinary care team
3-5 years experience providing Massage Therapy for frail elders or in the context of hospice
In-person oncology massage training by an S40M recognized education provider
