WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a hospice aide, you will provide compassionate, hands-on care that helps patients remain comfortable and maintain dignity throughout their end-of-life journey.

You will:

• Assist with personal care, mobility and activities of daily living
• Support nutrition, including simple meal preparation and feeding
• Provide light homemaking support related to the patient’s care
• Help patients maintain independence and participate in activities meaningful to them
• Observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to the registered nurse

Working alongside your team, you will give your best each day in service of our core commitment: Delivering compassionate, personalized care with heartfelt empathy, honoring the wishes of each patient who entrusts VITAS with their end-of-life journey.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK

You will spend most of your time caring for hospice patients wherever they call home, whether that means a private residence or an assisted living/skilled nursing facility.

You will travel within your assigned service area and provide care under the supervision of a registered nurse as part of an interdisciplinary hospice team.

REQUIREMENTS

• Approved hospice aide, home health aide or nurse aide training and competency
• Ability to travel as required by the role
• One year of direct patient care experience preferred

Certification requirements vary by state:

• AL: CNA
• CA: CHHA
• CT: Homemaker-Home Health Aide
• DC, DE, FL, GA, PA, TX, VA, WI: CNA, HHA or HA
• IL: HHA or NA
• KS, MO: Home Health Aide
• OH: State Tested Nurse Aide
• NJ: Homemaker-Home Health Aide
