Horticulture Assistant (1 CWS/FWS and 1 Perkins Grant), SC1HRTASSTHORT (FA26)
Student Worker Eligibility:
Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To assist in the greenhouse and landscape lab.

  • (Denotes essential functions)
  • Watering, trimming, potting greenhouse and exterior plants.
  • Mow, trim, weed, plant, and prune landscape lab area.
  • General maintenance tasks in greenhouse and landscape lab
  • Assist in hardscape installations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • THIS IS A STUDENT JOB.
      • High school diploma or equivalent.
      • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
      • Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above.
      • If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
      • If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.
    • Experience
      • Horticulture experience required.
    • Licenses and Certifications
    • COD Training
      • Hazardous Communications
      • Compliance Training

    Working Conditions:

  • Possible evening, weekend or holiday hours may be required.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Work may be during inclement weather conditions.
  • May lift up to 25 lbs.
  • This student position does not require pre-employment tests.
  • Pay Rate: Student Rate 1 - $15.00 per hour
