As we expand, we’re looking for a Horticultural Supervisor to join us on this exciting journey and play a pivotal role in the future of Rombola Family Farms in Griffith, NSW, Mataranka, NT, Douglas-Daly, NT and Bundaberg, QLD.

About the Role:

The Horticultural Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all operational production line tasks to optimise production performance. You will successfully lead the team and be accountable for the safe, clean, and efficient operation of the line. You will be able to get along with people from all walks of life and work with the team to rectify any issues identified.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Ensure scheduled crops for intended harvest have passed the withholding period.
  • Ensure that all specialised harvest equipment is maintained.
  • Ensure correct harvest to suit conditions of crop, soil moisture and variety to minimize any mechanical damage.
  • Liaise with Farm Operation Manager / Shed Production Manager / Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Ensure quality of harvest throughout harvest period to minimize damage.
  • Identify and report unusual disease or plant pest signs.
  • Transport and store chemicals.
  • Prepare and apply chemicals to control pest, weeds and diseases.
  • Implement a post-harvest program.
  • Establish horticultural crops.
  • Carry out emergency disease or plant pest control procedures at infected premises.
  • Operate chemical application machinery and equipment.
  • Coordinate work site activities.
  • Perform shed nursery activities.
  • Regulate crops.

To be successful in the role you will possess the following:

  • Previous experience supervising efficient, modern production lines handling fruit, vegetable or other manufacturing products
  • Experience with produce graders (MAF Roda, Compac) or similar vision grading systems will be highly advantageous along with integrated warehouse/inventory management systems
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude
  • Very organised team player who can work effectively with people from different backgrounds
  • Ability to work flexible hours during peak harvest period.
  • Sound working knowledge of WH&S requirements.
