Job Description

Haeger is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Horizontal Mill Machinist to join our team. This role requires a hands-on professional capable of producing both production and one-off parts with precision and efficiency. The ideal candidate will have strong experience operating horizontal milling machines and be comfortable with full setup, adjustment, and optimization of machining processes.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate horizontal milling machines to produce precision components for both production and prototype (one-off) work
  • Perform complete machine setups, including fixture setup, tooling selection, and touch-offs
  • Interpret and work from complex blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
  • Conduct in-process inspections using appropriate measuring tools to ensure quality standards are met
  • Maintain proper tool usage and ensure all parts meet required tolerances and specifications
  • Adjust machine programs as needed to improve performance, efficiency, or part quality
  • Troubleshoot machining issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment in accordance with company standards

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) operating horizontal milling machines in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of machining fundamentals, including speeds, feeds, and tooling applications
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, set-up sheets and technical drawings
  • Experience performing setups, touch-offs, and basic program adjustments
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gauges, etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience with Mazak machines/controls
  • Experience working with pallet-changing systems on Mazak horizontal mills
  • Ability to edit or modify CNC programs (G-code or conversational programming)
  • Familiarity with Keyence optical measurement systems or similar inspection equipment
  • Experience in high-mix, low-volume and/or production machining environments
