Job Description

Imagine being part of a team that’s redefining the future of mobility—where your ideas don’t just sit in a lab but power next-generation technology. At indie, we are developing cutting-edge semiconductors, photonics, and radar sensors and systems for automotive, industrial, and adjacent markets. Our innovations are at the heart of advanced intelligent sensing and user experience applications, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.

If you're passionate about groundbreaking technology and want to make a real impact alongside a fast-paced team that thrives on creativity and collaboration, we’d love to have you on board!

As a global leader, indie's photonics team specializes in developing advanced optical systems and components that drive progress across various industries—from material processing, quantum technologies, LiDAR, navigation, sensing, and imaging, to augmented reality and medical applications.

The Industrialization Engineer will take ownership of ensuring manufacturing processes are capable, validated and ready for reliable production. Operating as a key technical authority at the interface between Engineering, Production, Quality and external manufacturing partners, this role leads complex process qualification, manufacturing validation and data-driven studies supporting new product introduction, process changes and production scale-up.

The successful candidate brings substantial practical manufacturing experience, strong statistical and analytical expertise, and the judgment to make and defend engineering decisions based on structured experimentation, process capability analysis and quantitative evidence. The candidate is expected to provide technical direction, influence cross-functional stakeholders and solve problems with practical, lasting solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead qualification and validation activities for manufacturing processes, equipment, materials and tooling.
  • Design and analyze statistically sound experiments (DoE), capability studies and process characterization activities to support process development, optimization and qualification.
  • Establish process capability metrics, measurement system requirements and control strategies for critical manufacturing processes.
  • Support qualification and implementation of new materials, adhesives, consumables and manufacturing technologies.
  • Conduct data-driven investigations of process-related quality and reliability issues and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Act as the manufacturing representative for outsourced production activities, supporting process transfer, qualification and alignment between internal and external manufacturing sites.
  • Develop and maintain validation documentation, technical reports, specifications and engineering procedures in accordance with the company's ISO quality management system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in industrialization, manufacturing engineering, process validation or production engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in medium- or high-volume manufacturing environments with structured production processes within photonics, semiconductor, optoelectronics, or other precision manufacturing industries.
  • Practical experience planning and executing process, equipment and material qualification activities.
  • Strong knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE), process capability analysis, Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Hands-on approach with the ability to work directly on manufacturing processes, equipment and technical investigations.
  • Excellent written and spoken English skills; German and/or Italian are considered advantages.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with validation methodologies including IQ/OQ/PQ.
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plans and process risk management techniques.
  • Experience supporting outsourced manufacturing, supplier qualification or technology transfer activities.
