Summary
The Hope for the Holidays Specialist plays a key role in Children's Home Society of North Carolina's annual Hope for the Holidays program by supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of a successful holiday wish list and fundraising initiative for children and families served by CHS. This position works closely with donors, volunteers, case workers, and CHS staff to help ensure wish lists are fulfilled and gifts are accurately collected, organized, and distributed.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Coordination
- Manage and maintain holiday wish lists using the Roonga platform.
- Collaborate with CHS program staff to ensure timely submission, approval, and sponsorship of client wish lists.
- Assist with the overall coordination and daily operation of the Hope for the Holidays program.
Donation and Inventory Management
- Sort, organize, and coordinate the distribution of donated gifts.
- Maintain accurate inventory and donation records, ensuring proper tracking and reporting in designated databases.
- Collaborate with the philanthropy team to secure and steward in-kind and financial contributions from corporations, community organizations, civic groups, and individual donors.
Volunteer Engagement
- Utilize SignUpGenius and other tools to schedule, track, and communicate with volunteers.
- Assist with coordinating, training, and supporting volunteer participants.
Organizational Responsibilities
- Participate in Hope for the Holidays meetings, training sessions, and quality improvement activities.
- Demonstrate sensitivity and respect for the cultural, socioeconomic, and individual characteristics of the children and families served.
- Exemplify CHS's Mission, Vision, and Values in all interactions and responsibilities.
- Comply with CHS's Code of Conduct and all organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support program and organizational goals.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Post Secondary degree preferred
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in fundraising, event planning, project management, volunteer management, customer service, sales, nonprofit operations, or a related field.
- Experience working with volunteers, donors, or community partners preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong organizational, project coordination, and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, databases, and volunteer management platforms; experience with Roonga, SignUpGenius, or similar systems is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining accountability for assigned responsibilities.
- Knowledge of fundraising, event planning, volunteer engagement, or related nonprofit operations.
Additional Requirements
- Valid North Carolina driver's license, adequate automobile insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle for CHS business.
- Ability to perform physical duties associated with seasonal event operations, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods.
