Job Summary: The Hood Cleaning Technician is responsible for cleaning, inspecting, and maintaining commercial kitchen exhaust systems and fire suppression components in accordance with NFPA standards and company safety procedures. This role ensures fire safety compliance, system performance, and customer satisfaction through high-quality service and professionalism.
Job Responsibilities:
Clean and degrease commercial kitchen exhaust systems, including hoods, ducts, fans, and filters
Inspect kitchen fire suppression systems for visible issues and report deficiencies to management
Protect customer property by properly covering equipment and maintaining clean work areas
Operate pressure washers, steam cleaners, chemicals, and hand tools safely and effectively
Install access panels as needed to complete cleanings
Perform before-and-after photo documentation of work performed
Complete service reports and required compliance paperwork accurately
Follow all OSHA, NFPA 96, and company safety guidelines
Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working condition
Communicate professionally with customers and team members
Work overnight, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required
QualificationsWhat We Are Looking For:
High School Diploma or equivalent
State specific licensing preferred, or ability to acquire
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and willingness to travel to client sites as needed
Prior experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of fire alarm systems in commercial and industrial settings
Solid understanding of fire alarm codes, standards and regulations, including NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) and relevant building and fire codes
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics and technical manuals for fire alarm equipment
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently
Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and maneuver in confined spaces
Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work for extended periods
Comfortable working in hot, greasy, and loud environments
Commercial kitchens and rooftops
Exposure to grease, cleaning chemicals, heat, and noise
Night and early-morning work schedules
