Job Description

Overall Purpose of the role

The Hong Kong General Manager is responsible for leading and developing the Hong Kong & Macao market to ensure sustainable, compliant and profitable growth.

A key priority of the role is to maximize the commercial performance of existing brands, drive uptake of the migraine franchise, prepare and execute new product launches including entry into neuro-rare diseases, and shape lifecycle strategies for core brands approaching Loss of Exclusivity (LoE).

The role also focuses on building a strong, highly engaged and high-performing organization, while strengthening key capabilities in market access, neuro-rare diseases, and both public and private healthcare sectors.

The position is based in Hong Kong and reports directly to the Managing Director, Lundbeck China (Mainland and Hong Kong).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver on agreed strategic and operational targets, including topline and profit (PCR), with full P&L responsibility
  • Establish long-term strategic direction for Hong Kong & Macao to ensure profitable growth and portfolio maximization
  • Maximize uptake and performance of the migraine franchise
  • Lead successful launch of new products, including expansion into neuro-rare diseases
  • Develop and execute strategies for lifecycle management, including LoE (Loss of Exclusivity) of core brands
  • Build robust business plans and ensure strong execution and performance tracking
  • Ensure full compliance of all marketing activities with Global Brand Plan and local regulations
  • Lead stakeholder engagement with Key Opinion Leaders, government bodies, Hospital Authority, and industry associations
  • Build and strengthen key capabilities in market access, neuro-rare diseases, and across public and private sectors
  • Lead and develop a strong, highly engaged and high-performing organization
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across Sales, Marketing, Medical, Market Access, and HR
  • Provide coaching, direction and leadership development to build future-ready teams
  • Ensure effective execution of people processes including performance management, organizational review, and engagement initiatives
  • Lead organizational transformation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Ensure compliance with all local legal, regulatory, and corporate requirements, including pharmacovigilance obligations
  • Maintain strong employee relations and collaboration with local works council
  • Contribute actively to regional and global networks, sharing best practices and insights


Role Specific Competencies

Required education, experience, and skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Business Administration, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, or related field
  • Strong commercial leader with proven P&L responsibility
  • Extensive leadership experience managing leaders and “team of teams” structures
  • Deep experience in the Hong Kong pharmaceutical market (mandatory)
  • Proven track record in launching new products and leading market development initiatives (mandatory)
  • Strong experience in strategy development and execution within complex environments
  • Demonstrated success in securing market access and reimbursement in Hong Kong, including engagement with the Hospital Authority and private sector stakeholders
  • Strong experience in specialty care, hospital-based or innovative product commercialization with full lifecycle management
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional strategies integrating Sales, Marketing, Medical, and Public Affairs
  • Experience in CNS / brain health is a strong plus
  • Experience in rare diseases is a strong plus
  • Cantonese speaking is a plus (not mandatory)
  • High proficiency in English required
