Basic Employee Responsibilities
Every Q2 ALS employee is expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Specific responsibilities include the following:

• Being responsible – on time for work and take breaks during designated times.
• Carrying out other tasks from time to time as assigned by a supervisor or request for assistance as needed.
Position Specific Responsibilities
Operating Horizontal Hones accordance with approved, safe work procedures. Honing barrels as scheduled by supervisor, ensuring conformance to specifications and technical work instructions.
• Operate Horizontal Hones in accordance with approved safe work procedures, ensuring all barrels are honed to specification and per technical work instructions.
• Complete work orders to maximize operational and machine efficiency using technical work instructions and metal removal rate sheets.
• Manage daily hone process flow, ensuring the next job is prepared to minimize set up time and that completed jobs move to the next stage in the process.
• Complete work order documentation and update hourly production boards, including set up times and any issues encountered.
• Perform daily housekeeping in compliance with company standard work and 5S policies, maintaining a clean and organized work area.
• Communicate potential continuous improvement opportunities to the supervisor (e.g., speeds/feeds, set up efficiencies).
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks according to predefined schedules to minimize downtime.
• Ensure integrity and current calibration of all measuring devices used in the process.
• Report requirements for tools, parts, and supplies to the supervisor promptly.
• Read and interpret job orders, technical work instructions, material removal sheets, and drawings to determine machining operations.
• Verify inside diameter (ID) dimensions of honed barrels using calibrated bore gauges.
• Perform quality checks and/or inspections as required by work instructions or as instructed.
• Report and document any nonconforming product to the supervisor immediately.
Required Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) or relevant work experience.
• 1–2 years of experience in manufacturing or machine operation (honing experience is an asset).
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to read work orders, drawings, and technical instructions.
• Ability to use or learn precision measuring tools, including bore gauges, micrometers, and calipers.
• Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing for long periods, repetitive motions, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and reliability in completing quality checks and documentation.
• Capable of working independently.
• Able to work as part of a team when required to coordinate machine use and manage work priorities effectively.
Physical Demands
• Stand and walk for extended periods while operating honing equipment.
• Lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Perform repetitive motions, including reaching, bending, and handling parts throughout the shift.
• Use hands and fingers to operate machinery, adjust tooling, and handle measurement instruments.
• Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, metal shavings, oils, and coolants (with required PPE).
• Maintain focus and attention to detail during precision measurement tasks.
