
Detailed Job Description: Homeroom Teacher - KG (Khalifa City Branch)
International Community Schools (ICS) Khalifa City is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Homeroom Teacher for our Kindergarten (KG) cycle. We are committed to providing an exceptional American curriculum education within a vibrant international setting in Abu Dhabi.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and age-appropriate instruction following the American curriculum (Common Core State Standards and US-based frameworks).
Create a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning for KG students.
Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and differentiated instruction.
Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community to support student growth and well-being.
Actively participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives.
1. Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related field from an accredited university.
Valid, teaching license/certification, specifically for Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
A Master's Degree in Education or a related field is an advantage.
2. Experience Requirements:
4 years of full-time teaching experience in Kindergarten or Early Years.
Prior experience in an international school setting is highly valued.
Experience in a diverse cultural environment is an advantage.
3. Skills Required:
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in classroom management techniques appropriate for young children.
Strong ability to plan, deliver, and assess lessons aligned with American curriculum standards.
Competence in integrating educational technology effectively into teaching and learning.
Skills in data analysis to inform instruction and track student progress.
Ability to implement differentiated instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.
Soft Skills:
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal) with students, parents, and colleagues.
High level of cultural sensitivity and adaptability to an international context.

4. Curriculum Knowledge:
In-depth understanding and practical application of the American Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics at the Kindergarten level.
Familiarity with US-based science (e.g., Next Generation Science Standards - NGSS) and social studies frameworks for early childhood education.
Ability to integrate the American curriculum's guiding principles into daily instruction and classroom activities.
5. UAE-Specific Requirements:
Compliance with all professional licensing requirements set forth by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
Ability to successfully obtain and maintain an ADEK Teacher Permit.
Understanding of and respect for UAE culture, values, and educational guidelines.
Willingness to undergo necessary background checks and provide documentation as required by UAE authorities and ADEK.
