Under the direction of the Homeless Services Worker Supervisor, the HSW Day Lead supports daily operations at CAPSLO’s 40 Prado Shelter by providing leadership to staff and volunteers, coordinating services, supporting clients, maintaining HMIS documentation, and helping ensure a safe, supportive environment that promotes self-sufficiency.
What we're looking for in the ideal candidate:
• Two or more years of experience providing direct human or health services to the economically disadvantaged, physically/mentally disabled, substance abuse/dual diagnosed individuals, the elderly, and/or at risk youth. Education, volunteer experience and/or other related experience may be accepted.
• Experience in a supervisory, managerial, or lead role.
• Valid drivers license and auto insurance.
As a Homeless Services Worker Lead you will:
• Supervise, train, and support Homeless Services Workers (HSWs) and volunteers, providing daily direction, coaching, and performance oversight.
• Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and staff coverage to ensure adequate program operations.
• Serve as the lead staff person in the absence of the Supervisor, making operational decisions and responding to emergencies as needed.
• Ensure a safe, secure, and welcoming shelter environment by enforcing program policies and addressing conflicts, crises, and behavioral concerns.
• Oversee daily shelter operations, including staff assignments, client services, facility cleanliness, safety, and security.
• Review and maintain accurate program documentation, timekeeping records, and data entry in HMIS and other required systems.
• Coordinate with internal departments, community partners, and emergency responders to support client services and shelter operations.
• Monitor program supplies, facility needs, and bed management processes to ensure efficient service delivery.
• May assist with transportation of participants to various appointments.
• Prepare reports and communicate program updates, client progress, and operational concerns to leadership.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
