Job Title: Home Health and Hospice Aide

Department: Home Health

Reports To: Home Health Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Hours: PRN

Shift: Days, and/or Weekends

Always committed to improvement, we hope to soon be in the top 20 critical access hospitals and are also currently constructing a new 24,000 square foot medical office to bring better access, accommodations, and services to the community.

WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR FCMC:

Our Home Health and Hospice Aides provide essential care for patients whose families cannot meet their needs. This compassionate care can include:

  • Reminding the patient to take medication
  • Performing simple diagnostic activities including taking vital signs, checking temperature, and monitoring blood sugar
  • Assisting with hygiene, such as tooth or dental care, bathing, shaving, and hair care
  • Performing active and passive range of motion exercises with the patient
  • Ensuring proper nutrition of the patient by instructing basic principles of good nutrition, observing and recording food and fluid intake, positioning the patient for meals, feeding as needed, and encouraging self-feeding
  • Assisting the patient with light housekeeping and other duties, such as doing laundry, bed changing, bed making, and cleaning

These and other duties performed by Home Health and Hospice Aides are vital to the physical and emotional wellbeing of our residents.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Idaho, preferably with six months of prior experience
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral, in the English language
  • Must have a cell phone, valid driver’s license, and access to an automobile in good working condition
  • Must be able to multi-task and work cooperatively with individuals and teams

Essential Job Functions:

  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Regularly required to stand; walk and sit; operate a computer; operate a motor vehicle; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or twist
  • Occasionally required to push or pull up to 70 pounds
  • Frequently able to lift or carry up to 25 pounds
  • Must submit to COVID-19 testing as required by CMS and other regulatory agencies according to FCMC policy
  • Have full COVID-19 vaccination (some exemptions allowed)

Work Environment:

  • FCMC operates 24 hours per day each day of the year; operational needs of departments may require that you be available to work all shifts, weekends and holidays to meet the needs of the patients
  • Potential exposure to blood, body tissue and fluids, contagious diseases and hazardous waste
  • Occasional exposure to bodily injury, loud/unpleasant noise, unpleasant odor, emotional or physical stress
