EMPLOYMENT TYPES

  • All positions at HCN are long-term employment opportunities (2+ years desired, or longer) requiring commitment to a part-time, recurring weekly schedule.

Currently available opportunities include Part-Time or PRN.

  • Full-time positions are not immediately available, nor guaranteed, however qualified Aides interested in ongoing employment with additional Part-Time or Full-Time hours may start with immediate-need clients and build up to desired total hours/schedule within 60 days. HCN will seek available new cases on your behalf, and you will have first priority for any existing or new cases that arise in your target geography.

Part-Time Positions

Whether you're seeking a Part-Time Only schedule, or are interested in additional hours beyond your Part-Time or Full-Time schedule, HCN Caregivers may have opportunities to:

  • Accept 1 or multiple clients
  • Specify available days & hours per day from which we build your schedule
  • Custom travel parameters (may limit hours available)
  • Ease in Occasional flexible scheduling to accommodate holidays / personal commitments of employee and client
  • Reassignment (as available) should client requirements or availability change

Whether assigned to care for existing HCN clients, new HCN clients, family member clients, or to support the continuity of care for past clients (when appropriate), we understand the importance of trusted caregiver-client relationships and create smooth transitions and lasting, predictable schedules for both caregivers and clients.

PRN Opportunities

Whether you're solely seeking a PRN / As-Needed position or are interested in additional hours beyond your Part-Time schedule, HCN Aides may have opportunities to accept:

  • PRN / As-Needed / On-Call / Back-up Relief client visits
  • Coverage for vacations and leaves

  • Paid Job shadowing for on-the-job training and advancement

  • This role is best suited for individuals who desire flexibility and can accommodate a schedule that changes based on client needs.

PRN work is based upon agency and client needs and is never guaranteed. Participation is optional.

For the right candidate, this position can serve as a flexible way to maintain clinical practice while earning additional income.

*For those seeking only PRN, please note that: Hours vary significantly from week to week while some weeks may offer multiple available shifts, or limited hours, or no available hours at all. No minimum number of hours is guaranteed for PRN positions.

Friendly Travel Expectations

  • For PT Positions: Willingness to travel to and from all client residences to provide care during scheduled, agreed-upon dates and times, up to at least a 30-minute radius, is required.
  • Your service area is based upon client-specific locations and your acceptance to support them.
  • Clients are typically sought to reside within 0-30 minutes of your home, and willingness to cover clients up to a 45- or 60-minute radius is highly preferred, especially if additional hours / additional clients are desired (not required).
  • For PRN Shifts / Positions: up to a 30-minute radius (from your home) is required, and willingness to cover clients up to a 45- or 60-minute radius is highly desired.

Typical Shift Availability

Most available assignments occur during:

  • Weekdays (Monday through Friday)
  • Morning start times typically between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM
  • Afternoon/evening end times typically between 3:00 PM and 6:00 PM
  • Weekend opportunities may occasionally become available but are not guaranteed.
  • Late Evening & Overnight opportunities are rare; those applying with only these as available shifts may not be considered at this time.

Shift lengths and schedules vary by client and assignment, and may vary day-to-day, week-to-week for Caregivers.

Starting Pay

  • STNA, CNA & DSP: $16 - $19 per hour
  • HHA, PCA & CHHA: $15 - $18 per hour

Hourly Pay is based on experience, travel, qualifications and certifications, skill specializations, positive employment & job tenure history, positive professional references, and overall client & team fit. HCN pays weekly, on Fridays, via direct deposit into your bank account.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 years paid in-home care or caregiving experience (agency experience desirable but not required)
  • STNAs and CNAs highly desired (or HHA/PCA with 2+ years consistent experience)
  • Or Active DSP Certification from Ohio DODD with 1+ year of experience caring for persons with disabilities AND willingness to care for non-DODD clients.
  • Additional Medication Certifications, Hoyer lift experience, specific disease-state care experience, etc., are highly desirable but not required.
  • Exceptional on-time and attendance record, and consistent availability aligned to your chosen schedule type.
  • Desire for long-term employment with our agency (no temp or short-term employment at this time)
  • Successful completion of HCN's written skills test and/or competency evaluation (Requires approx. 3-5 hours virtual testing & training prior to hire).
  • Active CPR + FA certification and documentation of both
  • Character traits: reliable, honest beyond reproach, professional, compassionate, detail-oriented (in care + documentation), accountable, friendly and accommodating, respectful
  • Consent + Ability to pass a State & Federal background check (including fingerprints)
  • 18yo + active Driver's License / State ID
  • Reliable transportation to all scheduled visits, within full reach of stated travel radius
  • Deep commitment to quality patient care
  • Excellent documentation habits and Plan of Care adherence
  • Willingness and aptitude to perform light housekeeping in addition to patient care services as needed.

A successful Home Healthcare Aide provides personal care services under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Therapist in their region. You will be assigned to specific clients by the Registered Nurse or other appropriate professionals and perform services for clients as necessary to maintain personal comfort and safety in their home.

As a Home Health Aide, you will:  

  • Deliver direct patient care and support, following the established plan of care, to pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Measure and record vital signs and other specified metrics as instructed.
  • Assist with personal care tasks and activities of daily living (e.g., bathing, oral hygiene, nail & skin care, shaving, dressing).
  • Perform household tasks essential to health care and living at home (e.g., meal preparation/feeding, laundry, light housekeeping).
  • Assists patients in taking medications under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse. This includes opening a container or pill caddy & handing it to the patient but does not include administration of the medications.
  • Identify and report any abnormal findings or changes in the patient's condition.
  • Help with therapy exercises under supervision of our therapists (e.g., range of motion exercises, ambulation assistance).
