ABOUT THE ROLE

Caring for others is more than a job - it’s a calling. As a Home Care Worker under the Support at Home program, you will play a vital role in supporting older people to live independently, safely, and with dignity in their own homes.

This role focuses on delivering person-centred, flexible support that is tailored to each individual’s goals, preferences, and evolving needs. You will empower clients to maintain their independence, enhance their wellbeing, and stay connected to their community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a Home Care Worker, you will deliver high-quality care and support aligned with each client’s individual support plan. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing domestic assistance such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation to support a safe and comfortable home environment

  • Assisting with personal care including showering, grooming, toileting, and mobility support

  • Supporting clients with daily living activities that promote independence and wellbeing

  • Assisting with transportation and community access, including appointments, shopping, and social outings

  • Building strong, respectful relationships with clients and their families

  • Encouraging choice, control, and independence in line with Support at Home principles

  • Adhering to health, safety, and quality standards to ensure the wellbeing of clients and yourself

ABOUT YOU 

We currently have positions available for individuals, who are committed to providing excellence in care and the best possible quality of life to our residents.  

Essential Requirements

  • Certificate III in Aged, Community Care or equivalent

  • Current driver license

  • Reliable vehicle (including valid registration with minimal 3rd Party Insurance)

  • Home Care experience

  • Current First Aid Certificate 

You will have

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote, support and model the Christian values and ethos of The Salvation Army

  • Motivation to work with older people living in the community and an understanding of their needs and of consumer directed care

  • Strong customer service focus and good time management skills

  • Ability to work independently and safely in a client’s home

  • Good communication skills, including fluency in written and spoken English

  • Computer literacy and experience with documentation

The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) has been providing outstanding care for Victoria's children and their families for over 147 years.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.

With a passionate, highly skilled and committed staff campus wide of over 5,000, we provide a full range of clinical services, tertiary care and health promotion and prevention programs for children and young people.

We are the designated state-wide major trauma centre for paediatrics in Victoria and a Nationally Funded Centre for cardiac and liver transplantation.

When it comes to training and research we partner with the very best. Our campus partners, the Murdoch Childrens Research Institute (MCRI) and The University of Melbourne Department of Paediatrics, along with the RCH Foundation, are on site with the hospital in Parkville.
