Inclusive Opportunities CIC are seeking a Holiday Club Support Worker to join their team.

Our holiday club is for youngsters aged between 8 and 18 who have severe, profound and complex learning difficulties. We operate on Monday to Friday during school holidays (excluding bank holidays). Each day is 6 hours long. There is no commitment to work a specific number of days per week.

We pick up and drop off youngsters and staff from 2 locations in Ipswich, the Salvation Army on Woodbridge Road and Chestnut Tree Farm Pub.

The club’s running hours are:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday 9.15am-3.15pm
  • Tuesday, Thursday 10am-4pm

Days usually involve being out and about in the community for the whole day. We take the youngsters for lots of long walks, visits to country parks, lakes, rivers, beaches and parks, we catch trains to various places and take some of them swimming. Sometimes we have special events arranged at our premises in Gosbeck such as live bands, bubble shows and drumming workshops.

You will work as part of a small team of dedicated and enthusiastic people to make service users’ days fun, engaging and fulfilling whilst supporting them to meet their needs and keeping them safe.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • supporting children and young people with severe learning difficulties in a range of activities both in the community and at our base in Gosbeck
  • encouraging and promote service users in the development of their independence, communication and social skills
  • positively managed challenging behaviours if necessary
  • assisting service users to meet their personal care needs
  • celebrating achievements (however small) and be prepared to have fun
  • promoting a safe, inclusive, and positive environment at all times.

What you will need:

  • Experience of working with children, young people or adults with learning difficulties
  • The ability to be flexible and open to new challenges, ideas and experiences
  • Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills
  • Be willing to be out in the community whatever the weather
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • A good sense of humour and a willingness to have fun.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check and safer recruitment processes.

Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.

Candidates must be aged over 18.
