Job Description

About the Role:

The XRAY/CAT Scan Technologist in Hoboken plays a critical role in the diagnostic imaging process by performing high-quality radiographic and computed tomography (CT) scans to assist physicians in diagnosing medical conditions. This position requires precision and attention to detail to ensure accurate imaging while prioritizing patient safety and comfort. The technologist will operate advanced imaging equipment, prepare patients for procedures, and collaborate closely with radiologists and healthcare teams to deliver timely and reliable diagnostic information. Additionally, the role involves maintaining imaging equipment, adhering to regulatory standards, and documenting procedures accurately. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to patient care by providing essential diagnostic images that guide effective treatment plans.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Valid state licensure or certification as a Radiologic Technologist. CT Certification required, AART required.
  • Proficiency in performing X-ray and CT scan procedures.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety and protection standards.
  • Strong communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting with diverse patient populations.
  • Familiarity with Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and MediTech.
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform X-ray and CT scan procedures following established protocols to produce clear and accurate diagnostic images.
  • Prepare and position patients appropriately for imaging, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
  • Operate and maintain imaging equipment, troubleshooting technical issues and coordinating routine maintenance as needed.
  • Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare professionals to review images and ensure diagnostic quality.
  • Maintain detailed patient records and imaging documentation in compliance with healthcare regulations and privacy standards.
  • Adhere to radiation safety guidelines to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self.
  • Educate patients about the imaging process and answer any questions to alleviate concerns.

The required skills enable the technologist to perform imaging procedures accurately and safely, ensuring high-quality diagnostic results. Proficiency in operating X-ray and CT equipment is essential for capturing precise images while minimizing radiation exposure. Strong communication skills are used daily to explain procedures to patients, address their concerns, and collaborate with medical staff. Preferred skills such as CT certification and familiarity with PACS/RIS systems enhance the technologist's ability to manage imaging workflows efficiently and support advanced diagnostic needs.
