About the Role
Lead HNW Finance function, ensuring full compliance with the Insurance Act and regulations, including statutory reporting, capital and solvency filings, and governance standards
Oversee financial performance and control across IFRS/statutory reporting, internal controls, finance operations, treasury, taxation, and investment accounting; provide timely, high-quality insights to CEO/CFO and Group stakeholders
Drive the design and implementation of the Finance Target Operating Model, including processes, data flows, and systems, positioning the team as a Next Gen Finance function through digitalization, analytics, and automation
Act as a strategic finance partner, identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency, capital effectiveness, and sustainable performance
Coordinate closely with the Approved Actuary, Risk, and Compliance on assumptions, methods, and impacts on financial reporting, solvency, and regulatory submissions
Maintain readiness for regulatory changes and ensure timely communication and implementation planning
Roles and Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities
A. Financial Reporting, Controls and Compliance (25%)
Oversee timely and accurate preparation of IFRS and statutory reports in line with AIA Group and regulatory requirements
Lead internal control design and operation to ensure compliance with IFRS, statutory accounting, solvency, and liquidity requirements; maintain policies/procedures and control evidence
Maintain the reporting architecture (data model, ledger, sub-ledger, consolidations) ensuring data integrity and governance for decision support
Recommend policy/process enhancements that improve financial performance, control effectiveness, and audit readiness
B. Statutory Reporting & Taxation (20%)
Direct statutory filings to the Regulator (e.g., statutory returns, capital/solvency submissions, supplemental filings) on a timely and accurate basis; facilitate signoffs and governance packs
Oversee tax processes (planning, forecasts/controls, data validation, and compliance with local legislation and international developments where relevant)
Keep abreast on regulatory/tax changes affecting HNW entities and advise management on impacts, readiness, and controls
C. Finance Operations (20%)
Lead finance operations: Treasury, distribution compensation payments, policy payments, debt collection, payables/receivables and cash management; ensure strong operational controls
Review and advise on agency compensation operations (package design, loans, credit risk), balancing business objectives and regulatory expectations
Set and negotiate fit‑for‑purpose KPIs with senior management to balance production, control, service level, and capital efficiency
Oversee investment accounting reporting, ensuring alignment with KPIs, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements
D. Financial Management & Planning (25%)
Serve as a trusted advisor to the CFO, CEO, and Executive Committee by providing forward-looking financial insights, driving strategic planning, and ensuring alignment with company performance targets.
Lead and manage business planning, budgeting, forecasting, long-term planning, and management reporting processes. Monitor financial performance, analyse variances, and recommend corrective actions to optimise resource allocation and achieve financial goals.
Collaborate with and guide business functions in setting financial goals, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
Work closely with distribution leaders to develop financial strategies, enhance forecasting and planning capabilities, and establish performance metrics to drive growth and channel performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimisation.
D. Other Responsibilities (10%)
Perform other duties periodically assigned to meet business, reporting, operational, and governance requirements
Ensure team members performing regulated activities hold relevant licenses and maintain ongoing compliance with licensing requirements
Minimum Job Requirements:
Degree holder with a professional accounting designation (e.g., CPA, ACA, ACCA).
Minimum 12 years of senior finance leadership experience within insurance and financial services.
Strong track record in financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision-making in complex, regulated environments.
Deep understanding of HNW insurance market dynamics, statutory and regulatory reporting requirements.
Expertise in IFRS and local regulatory frameworks, including HNW Finance compliance.
Extensive experience in implementing and overseeing robust financial controls across all functions.
Thorough knowledge of insurance finance, actuarial reporting systems, data governance, and end-to-end processes.
Proven ability to manage external audits and regulatory reviews effectively.
Excellent project management skills with a focus on transformation and operational excellence.
Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, including engagement with boards and regulators.
Effective leadership in managing diverse teams and matrix structures in a multi-cultural environment.
