We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HMC Operator with hands-on experience in machine operations and VMC programming The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC), supporting Vertical Machining Center (VMC) programming, and ensuring high-quality production output. This role requires a strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, and precision engineering.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor HMC machines to perform machining operations such as drilling, milling, boring, and tapping.
- Set up machines by installing tools, fixtures, and workpieces as per technical drawings and specifications.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and process sheets accurately.
- Develop, edit, and optimize VMC programs using CNC programming languages (G-code/M-code).
- Perform tool offset settings, calibration, and machine alignment to ensure precision machining.
- Conduct first-piece inspection and in-process quality checks using measuring instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Troubleshoot machine issues, identify root causes, and take corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Ensure adherence to production schedules and maintain high efficiency in operations.
- Maintain proper documentation of production data, machine logs, and inspection reports.
- Follow safety standards, workplace protocols, and quality guidelines at all times.
- Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams for continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong experience as a Machine Operator, specifically in CNC/HMC environments.
- Proficiency in VMC programming and editing CNC programs.
- Hands-on expertise in operating HMC machines with knowledge of multi-axis machining.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with cutting tools, inserts, fixtures, and machining parameters.
- Knowledge of CNC controls such as Fanuc, Siemens, or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of CAD/CAM software is an added advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in shifts and handle production targets efficiently.
Educational Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
- Certification in CNC programming or machining is preferred.
Preferred Experience
- 1 to 8 years of relevant experience in CNC machining, particularly with HMC operations and VMC programming
- Experience in manufacturing industries such as automotive, aerospace, or heavy engineering is a plus.
