Location: Dallas, Texas

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 2:00 am – 10:30 am

Full-time: Benefit Eligible

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare sections of human tissue for microscopic examination and patient diagnosis, using techniques to embed, and section tissue from surgical procedures.
  • Performs recuts as requested by a Pathologist
  • May label requisitions, cassettes and/or slides and affixes coverslip to slides.
  • Recognize when troubleshooting is needed for processing, embedding, or cutting
  • Maintains laboratory equipment and tracks all routine maintenance and quality controls performed.
  • Operates, cleans, and sterilizes laboratory equipment, glassware, instruments, and workstation.
  • Ensure specimen integrity upon arrival and throughout the entire process
  • Escalate non-routine complicated specimens to the pathologist or lead histotechnician
  • Disposes of hazardous chemical wastes per regulatory guidelines.
  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.
  • Complies with all state, federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, polices, and procedural manuals.
  • Adherence to CAP, CLIA, state regulations, HIPAA, safety and OSHA regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with biological and chemical hazards
  • Champion safety, compliance, and quality control

All you need is:

  • Associate degree or higher in Histotechnology from an accredited institution or an Associate degree or higher in a chemical, physical, or biological science from an accredited institution, plus one of the following:
  • At least 1 year of histology experience within the last 5 years under the supervision of a board-certified pathologist;
  • Completion of a histotechnician training program of at least 9 months from an accredited institution.
  • Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
  • Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms

Bonus points if you’ve got:

  • 2+ years of laboratory training or experience in a high volume laboratory
  • HT or HTL certification
