Winpak Portion Packaging is seeking motivated, safety-focused candidates to join our Production and Warehouse teams based out of our Sauk Village and South Chicago Heights locations. We are hiring for multiple hands-on opportunities, including Machine Operator, Shipper, Material Handler, and Packer roles. These positions are ideal for candidates who enjoy fast-paced manufacturing, take pride in producing quality food packaging products, and want to build a long-term career with a growing global packaging leader.

Compensation Range

Machine Operator (Extrusion & Thermoforming)

Operate and monitor high-speed extrusion and thermoforming equipment, support production efficiency, perform measurements and adjustments, and help ensure products meet safety and quality standards.

$26.74 - $31.10 per hour

Shipper

Support shipping, logistics, and warehouse operations by preparing shipments, operating forklifts, following documentation practices, and helping ensure finished products move accurately and safely.

$18.20 - $23.00 per hour

Material Handler

Keep production moving by staging, moving, and handling materials on the production floor while supporting quality, sanitation, and food packaging safety requirements.

$18.20 per hour

Packer

Inspect, pack, and prepare finished product in a high-volume production environment while following food safety, quality, sanitation, and personal protective equipment requirements.

$17.68 per hour

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, pack, move, stage, or ship products and materials based on assigned role and department needs.
  • Follow production, warehouse, quality, sanitation, and food packaging safety procedures to support safe and reliable operations.
  • Inspect materials, finished goods, packaging, labels, and/or equipment to help prevent damage, contamination, mix-ups, or quality concerns.
  • Use tools, equipment, forklifts, production machinery, documentation, and computer systems as required for the assigned role.
  • Support daily production and warehouse flow by working efficiently in a high-volume, team-oriented environment.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Communicate issues, delays, safety concerns, or quality risks to leads, supervisors, and cross-functional partners.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred for Machine Operator and Material Handler roles.
  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience preferred for Machine Operator roles, ideally operating production machinery.
  • 2+ years of shipping, logistics, or warehouse experience required for Shipper roles, with prior forklift experience.
  • Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices, sanitation procedures, food safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a fast-paced production or warehouse environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs for Material Handler roles and up to 30 lbs for Packer roles; additional lifting requirements may vary by role.
  • Flexibility to work rotating schedules, 12-hour shifts, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to wear and maintain required personal protective equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in plastics manufacturing, including extrusion and thermoforming, for Machine Operator roles.
  • Technical degree or certification in a related field for Machine Operator opportunities.
  • Previous experience with high-speed machinery, tape measures, schematics, manuals, and measurement tools.
  • Prior warehouse experience, forklift operation, basic computer skills, and basic math skills for warehouse and material movement roles.
  • 1+ years of manufacturing or packaging experience, including 6+ months in a packer or picker role.
  • Experience working in environments that follow ISO 9001 quality standards, documentation practices, or food packaging safety requirements.

Additional Details

  • Hiring for both Sauk Village, Illinois and South Chicago Heights, Illinois locations.
  • All positions are 100% onsite and support production floor or warehouse operations.
  • Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; Night Shift: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM.
  • Night shift roles include a $2.00 per hour shift differential.
  • Rotating schedules may apply. Material Handler and Packer roles may follow a 12-hour COP rotation: Week 1 - Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday; Week 2 - Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
  • Candidates should be prepared for standing, walking, lifting, repetitive tasks, and working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
