We're looking for a proactive and driven Hire Manager to lead the day to day operation of the Hire Desk within our busy Plant & Tool division. As Hire Manager, you'll take ownership of hire desk operations, leading a team of Hire & Sales Co ordinators and Drivers to deliver safe, efficient, and customer focused service. You'll balance operational control with commercial focus, ensuring high standards of compliance, administration, and sales performance across the depot.
What You'll Be Doing
• Leading and managing the day to day operation of the Hire Desk and Transport function
• Allocating, prioritising, and overseeing workloads for Hire & Sales Co ordinators and Drivers
• Recruiting, motivating, coaching, and developing team members to achieve high performance
• Ensuring adequate staffing cover, including holidays, absence, and weekend attendance
• Driving add on sales performance through proactive promotion of consumables and accessories
• Overseeing stock control of consumables and resale items to meet demand
• Ensuring accurate processing of on hires, off hires, exchanges, and transport activity
• Monitoring delivery and collection performance to meet customer timescales
• Reviewing reports, customer queries, and administrative issues, taking corrective action where required
What You'll Bring

• Proven experience managing a hire desk, transport operation, or similar customer facing team
• Strong people management skills with the ability to coach and develop others
• Commercial focus with experience driving revenue and add on sales
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and perform under pressure
