Hip Hop Dance Instructor at Yesler Community Center

The Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation, is hiring a Hip Hop Dance Instructor The Hip Hop Dance Instructor will be responsible for programming and delivering a hip hop dance class to children aged 5-12 years. The Instructor will be responsible for creating lessons and teaching the fundamentals of hip hop. The instructor must have the ability to engage with a diverse group of children and manage a classroom of students. A passion for teaching, hip hop and dance are a must! This is a year-round part-time role starting asap. There are multiple opportunities to extend.

Schedule:

  • Wednesday 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm / Saturday 2:00 pm- 3:00 pm
  • The schedule is subject to change based upon programming needs and requirements.

Responsibilities:

Relationship Building

  • Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants
  • Collaborate with recreation coordinator and other on-site staff to ensure safety of all participants
  • Collaborate with recreation coordinator to manage behavioral concerns of all participants
  • Communicate with parents, coworkers and Seattle Parks and Recreation partners in a professional and courteous manner
  • Attend all required meetings and training

Care and Safety

  • Complete required accident/incident forms if participants or instructors are injured

Programming Requirements

  • Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate lesson plans/activities in the subject area of hip hop dance to ages 5-12 at multiple sites throughout Seattle
  • Use critical thinking to problem-solve
  • Generate supply lists for each class as needed
  • Maintain appropriate professional appearance
  • Daily set-up, take down and cleaning of space

Minimum

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • 2 years prior experience with hip hop dance required
  • Prior youth programming experience required
  • Must have demonstrated working experience working with families, community members and partners to foster positive relationships
  • If hired, you will have approximately 3 hours of Human Resources new hire onboarding/training and 1 hour of on-site on-boarding/training
  • If hired, must successfully complete/pass a background check
  • If hired, must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US and valid government issued ID and sign up for direct deposit with either checking or savings account

Pay:

  • Starting Pay: $27.00 - 29.00/hr.

  • Full Pay Range: $27.00 - 37.00/hr. (employee may earn up to $37.00/hr with continued employment)
