Objective
Under limited supervision the HIM Tech identifies records reflecting separate encounters to the same individual and remediates duplicate records by linking encounters to the individual receiving health care services. The HIM Tech will be charged with maintaining the confidentiality of patient records.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. This position occasionally requires long hours and weekend work.

This position is responsible to review, record and maintain a variety of information pertaining to the patient revenue process. This person is responsible for, but is not limited to, the proper handling of correspondence from payers, patients, vendors and system generated mail. This position will distribute and accurately categorize correspondence within the OnBase System and EPIC to help maintain reimbursement on the patient claims is done in a timely manner.
Clerical Support
Open, sort, scan and distribute all USPS documents, electronic files, incoming faxes and emails within our scanning and billing systems to ensure claim submissions and processing are completed in a timely manner.
Identification of unique accounts and proper categorization.
Must work independently and can make decisions relative to individual work activities.
Processes requests for additional information for all areas in the CBO and communicating with the Affiliates, HIM Release of Information, (ROI) Departments, and System Service Departments within UPH in a timely manner.
Maintain confidentiality of protected health information according to HIPAA regulations, with ability to identify records/information afforded special confidentiality under law.
Identifies opportunities for process improvement including, but not limited to, additional training needs.
Technical aptitude-ability to learn new systems quickly.
