Under direct supervision, provides support to department through delivery and assembly of charts, ensuring chart completion, and organizing charts for quality reviews.

Experience
1-year customer service or administrative experience
Experience in the healthcare field is preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Skill in understanding and following written and oral instructions and communicating effectively both oral and in writing
- General knowledge of office practices, procedures, and equipment; of business English, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and basic arithmetic calculations
- Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred
- Skills in using a variety of office software applications, such as word and excel processing, spreadsheets, and database applications to produce documents
- Ability to data and enter information timely and accurately

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides a variety of administrative support: filing, answering phones, assisting physicians, problem-solving, printing, light office equipment maintenance, and performing duties as assigned
- Collects, compiles, processes, secures, and makes available to authorized users an accurate health record in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements for timeliness and completion
- Maintains and operates a variety of health record computer software systems to collect, classify, store, and analyze information
- Retrieves patient health information for physicians, technicians, and other medical personnel while maintaining integrity and confidentiality of patient information and providing health information for patient care following the HIPAA guidelines and privacy regulations
- Gather medical information from the health record to complete birth certificate worksheet and enter data into electronic Birth Certificate system for timely completion. Enter newborn names into the hospital registration system upon discharge of newborn.
- Act is a resource for patients by completing “Proof of Birth” forms. Distributes “Affidavit of Parentage” forms when necessary and acts as a witness on forms required by Vital Records.
- Perform Quality Review for accuracy of the Birth Certificate for each newborn completed with an accuracy rate of 95% for Six Birth Certificates to be analyzed and completed in 6 hours. Forward all corrections found on the Birth Certificate to Vital Records to assure accuracy.
- Monitor and analyze accounts in HIM work queues to assure accuracy and completion of the medical record
- Perform rounds on all the Inpatient Units, Surgical Areas, Emergency Department and Labor and Delivery areas for all paper-based documentation.
- Scans and indexes health information within twenty-four hours of receipt of creation with an accuracy of 95% with a Standard of 2 inches of paper-based documentation to be scanned and indexed in one hour.
- Performs Quality Review on all scanned documentation for HIM and Front Office Scanner Users to ensure the integrity of the legal medical record.
- Provide additional Welcome Center/Information Desk coverage as needed. Duties would include greeting patients and visitors, and providing information and wayfinding as well as answering telephone calls requesting patient information.
- The Welcome Desk staff also perform various tasks assigned by the HIM & Patient Access departments that include opening the daily mail for Release of Information, mailings, making up registration packets, and requesting Transport for patients and visitors, as needed in Epic.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when typing, proofreading, and completing assignments
- Ability to lift to ten (10) pounds maximum and occasionally lift and/or carry small items
- Ability to stand and walk occasionally to perform the essential functions of the job at random intervals

Pay Range
$17.35 - $26.36
Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
