HIM Imaging SupervisorDays - Full TimeBell Hospital

Career Interest:

The HIM Imaging Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the medical imaging archive, ensuring accurate cataloging, secure storage, and timely retrieval of diagnostic images maintained by the Health Information Management- Radiology Imaging Center (RIC). This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and collaboration with radiology and clinical teams to maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and support patient care. The HIM Imaging Supervisor works independently and possesses advanced expertise in HIM-RIC operations. Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions

  • Oversees day-to-day operation of the HIM-RIC.
  • Evaluates and analyzes systems and functions of the HIM-RIC to ensure daily operations for patient care and that work is moving efficiently.
  • Represents the HIM-RIC department in new project meetings as delegated, ensuring internal processes are aligned to support new initiatives in collaboration with other departments.
  • Assists with Human Resource management functions including interviewing, selection, orientation, education/training, feedback, performance evaluation, and policy and procedure development
  • Communicates effectively to the team, leadership, nurses, physicians, and other administrative professionals.
  • Provides coverage in planned or emergent absences of other supervisors, when requested; provides coverage in emergent absences of employees, as needed.
  • Ensures a high level of quality and customer service, is an advocate for patients and radiology staff; maintains patient-centered focus and strives to support the mission, goals and values of the hospital, department and imaging center.
  • Responsible for the image purge process by maintaining logs; organize purge dates as participates as a member of the purge team. Assists with the daily operations in the HIM-RIC such as but not limited to importing and exporting images, retrieval of images, and daily monitoring of unspecified lists, and mailings. Assists and trains staff as needed.
  • Assist with image documentation, registration and labeling of images for the EMR.
  • Ensures optimal standards are maintained for the ingestion of imaging studies from outside institutions.
  • Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience

  • Associates Degree in Health Sciences, Health Information Management, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • 3 or more years of experience in a medical imaging setting.
  • 3 or more years of experience with PACS and Powershare.


Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Health Sciences, Health Information Management, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.
  • 5 or more years of experience in a medical imaging setting.
  • 5 or more years of experience with PACS and Powershare.
  • 3 or more years Epic experience
