The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes across the State of Maryland. For over 50 years, the MDTA has provided Maryland's citizens and visitors with safe, secure, and convenient transportation facilities. Nature of Work: This is the entry level of technical highway operations/traffic management center work involving traffic systems control, incident/congestion management, and communications. Employees undergo training to learn to operate state of the art, computerized traffic management workstations designed to facilitate traffic flow and minimize congestion and security monitoring systems. Employees in this position will report directly to the Highway Operations Technician IV. Current vacancies are in Annapolis and Baltimore, Maryland. Additionally, the eligible list established from this announcement may be used to fill opportunities throughout the MDTA.
Employees are considered “Safety Sensitive” and “Essential Employees” and are required to work rotating shifts, to include evenings, nights, and weekends. In the event of emergency highway conditions, employees are subject to callback during scheduled off hours.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education:Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience:None.
