LocationGrimes Maintenance Garage - Within five (5) months, employees are required to reside within 45 minutes driving time, during normal conditions, from the assigned road in your area of responsibility.
Shift Requirements7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday; hours may vary and on call 24 hours a day during emergency and/or weather conditions; occasional overnight travel
As the Highway Maintenance Supervisor (HMS), you will have the opportunity to plan and support maintenance activities of all primary roads assigned to the Grimes Garage. Some of your responsibilities will be supporting roadway maintenance crews on approximately 345 lane miles of primary highway, which includes Highways 141, 17, 6, 28, 44 across the assigned area and Interstates 80, 235, and 35.

While a CDL permit is required upon hire, you must have your Class A and endorsements / restrictions CDL within 5 months following your appointment. CDL Training for Iowa DOT employees is provided!! Entry Level Driver Training is available if you do not already possess a Class A endorsements / restrictions CDL for positions that require it. Those eligible will receive both hands-on Behind-the-Wheel Range and Road training, with web-based Theory training, to fulfill required state and federal regulations.
