Examples of duties

The main responsibility of this role is to assess the maintenance needs of a specific region within the county maintenance organization. This involves evaluating the condition of highways, determining the necessary maintenance tasks, and identifying any critical requirements for the region. As a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, you will perform the following duties:

• Project Planning: Develop programs, estimates, and plans for road maintenance and construction operations
• Work Oversight: Direct general and specialized crews in highway and bridge maintenance work; conduct and coordinate inspections of completed and in progress work
• Staff Supervision: Evaluate the performance of subordinate foremen and take corrective action when needed to ensure that objectives are achieved
• Team Coordination: Prepare draft work plans for long range, annual, monthly, and weekly activities
• Resource Management: Review estimates and recommend actions for funding, personnel, materials, and equipment
• Agreement Facilitation: Develop, negotiate, monitor, and evaluate agility agreements and meet with representatives to discuss projects and develop work priorities

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch, and overtime as needed, rotating on-call.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $60,538 (before taxes).

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years as a Highway Foreman 2; or
• Five years of technical experience in highway maintenance or highway construction; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

• You must possess an active non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
