Examples of duties
This position assists the County Maintenance Manager by coordinating road maintenance operations and supporting safe, efficient work practices. The primary focus of this role includes planning projects, monitoring work quality, guiding employees, and ensuring strong communication with partners. As a Highway Maintenance Coordinator, you will perform the following duties:
- Project Planning: Prepare plans and estimates for paving, surface treatment, patching, bridge maintenance, signing, and snow removal
- Resource Allocation: Recommend how equipment, manpower, and materials should be assigned to meet program goals
- Work Coordination: Support communication, review field work, and foster positive relationships with employees and community members
- Process Improvement: Promote new work methods, review complaints, and evaluate road conditions to improve planning
- Safety Leadership: Encourage safe work practices and increase awareness of hazards to protect workers and the public
- Employee Guidance: Assign tasks, evaluate employee performances, provide coaching, and assist with training needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- This position may be eligible for alternate work schedule (AWS).
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Pipersville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. - Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $60,538.00 (before taxes).

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Three years as a Highway Foreman 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Five years of technical experience in highway maintenance or highway construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
